Ruth Garnet Scott – The Herald
Ruth Garnet Scott, 95, of Traverse City, MI, formerly of McConnelsville, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022, in Traverse City.
Ruth was born as one of 16 children to the late Delford and Jessie (Starrett) Hambel. She married the late Perry Ray Irvin in 1947. After his passing, she eventually married the late Dana Scott in 1993.
While in Ohio, she was a member of the Flower Club and was very active in the Pennsville United Methodist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting.
Ruth is survived by her siblings, Kenny Hambel, Lee Hambel, Rosemary (Hambel) Solomon, and Esther (Hambel) Wilson; her sons, Perry (Lynda) Irvin and Milton Irvin; stepchildren, Kenny Scott, Jerry (Missy) Scott, Ruth Ann Scott, Reva (Oba) Vincent, Jan (Jaye) Scott, and Dan (Debbie) Scott; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; both of her husbands; 12 siblings; and her beloved daughter, Muriel Susanne Irvin.
A memorial service will be held at the Pennsville United Methodist Church at 11:30 am Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, with a lunch afterward.
She will be buried at the Galena Cemetery, 255 N. Walnut Street, Galena, Ohio, on October 23, 2022.
