Michigan Football Adopts 2022 Four-Star Safety Zeke Berry

Michigan’s soccer program made a major signing on Friday in Class 2022.

Concord (Calif.) De La Salle Four Star Safety Zeke Berry announced his oral pledge in a post on Twitter. The No. 226 total recruitment nationwide, according to the composite rankings by 247Sports, becomes Michigan’s 20th commitment in the 2022 class and is third in the top 300.

“Can play cornerback, safety, running back or receiver, but best project onto a defensive back in college,” wrote Brandon Huffman, national recruiting editor for 247Sport, in his scouting report. “Can come downhill and finish games with big hits and open field tackling skills, but be able to walk step by step with receivers and have tremendous ball skills, hips and quick hands. As a receiver he shows great bursts when he takes short passes and sticks his foot in the dirt to get into the open field. “

Berry left Arizona in October and paid an official visit to Ann Arbor for the Ohio state game last Saturday. He selected the Wolverines over 19 other reported offers, including from Oregon, Utah, USC, and Washington. He is also the fourth recruit to sign to Michigan since the team beat the Buckeyes.

The 6-foot, 185-pounder played for 10-2 De La Salle in seven games in 2021, ending with 25 tackles, three sacks, and an interception. On the offensive, he raced for 268 yards and a touchdown at 31 carries. He also caught two passes for 11 yards and threw three passes for 141 yards and a touchdown.

“He can play it safe, he can move,” Brice Marich of The Michigan Insider told MLive on Thursday. “If you really wanted to, you can top it up and maybe even play linebacker. He’s a Swiss Army Knife. “

With Berry in the rankings, Michigan’s class moved from 17th to 13th in the national rankings in 2022. The early signature period starts on December 15th.
