East Lansing K9 is retiring after more than 7 years of service

EAST LANSING, Michigan (WLNS) – A furry friend spends a lot of time on the couch after serving his last shift at the East Lansing Police Department.

ELPD K9 Quinn and Sergeant Bove graduated from K9 Handler School in Northern Michigan in May 2013 and initially worked on patrol in East Lansing.

The two had immediate success as a dual-purpose patrol and narcotics K9 team.

Responsible for more arrests than any other K9 team in ELPD history, the duo have become one of the most sought-after and successful teams in the region, according to a Facebook post from the East Lansing Police Department.

“K9 Quinn, enjoy your retirement, sleep on the couch and watch TV with the girls, that’s well deserved,” it says in the post.
