Donate in person to Rockin ‘for the Hungry at these three Kroger stores on Saturday

ANN ARBOR – Food Gatherers will personally accept food and cash donations in three Kroger stores in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti on Saturday as part of their annual Rockin ‘for the Hungry food campaign.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., parishioners can donate to the following Kroger locations:

  • 400 S. Maple Road. in Ann Arbor

  • 2641 Plymouth Road. in Ann Arbor

  • 2010 Whittaker Rd. In Ypsilanti

Food Gatherers employees and volunteers are positioned in front of each store to accept donations.

Each year, Washtenaw County’s largest chalkboard partners with Kroger and Ann arbor’s 107one for a five-day fundraiser and food drive. The effort is aimed at raising the equivalent of 1 million meals for Washtenaw County’s residents in need.

“The need for food in our community remains high and many of our neighbors rely on Food Gatherers and our network of pantries and programs to make ends meet,” said Eileen Spring, President and CEO of Food Gatherers. “The pandemic has created a perfect storm of operational challenges and an increased need for blackboards and pantries everywhere.

“Even if the economy opens up again, we expect our heightened response will last for the next 18 to 24 months. Donations made during Rockin’s will provide nutritious food and meals to all of our community in need all year round. “

The last day of donation is Saturday. Donations can be made online or by calling 734-606-0753 at any time.
