The East Lansing restaurant is preparing for a capacity expansion and a later curfew from Friday
LANSING, Michigan (WLNS) – Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced that restaurants and bars will be 50% busy starting this Friday and will remain open until 11 p.m.
Barrio in East Lansing is just one of the Mid-Michigan restaurants preparing for these changes.
Deanna Kascsak is one of the managers at Barrio. She said this 25% to 50% capacity increase was great for her business.
“It will make a huge difference. Our 25% capacity is 40 people so we can now double that, ”said Deanna.
From Friday they can use a part of their restaurant that they could not use before.
“We have our mezzanine in the restaurant that we haven’t been able to use yet. So we’ll be able to use that, ”said Deanna.
Another change is that restaurants can stay open until 11 p.m. instead of 10 p.m.
“It makes a big difference in Downtown East Lansing because from 10-11 I feel like we’d still do good business. And now we will, ”said Deanna.
Deanna said she expected these changes would attract more customers, so she had to bring in more people to get in.
“They started right away, you know, and reached out to the staff to see who could come back and prepare for it. So we’re excited, ”said Deanna.
