Michigan Medicine and Saint Joseph Mercy Health System announce partnership with Lansing-based Physicians Health Plan to launch the Saint Joseph Mercy Health System in Livonia, Michigan (MI)

Ann Arbor, Michigan – Michigan Medicine and Saint Joseph Mercy Health System, a member of Trinity Health, today announced a partnership with Lansing-based Physicians Health Plan (PHP) to bring a new range of Medicare Advantage to Livingston and Washtenaw counties. Plans to enable fall. The plans are marketed under the name UM Health + St. Joe’s Advantage and managed by PHP. UM Health + St. Joe’s Advantage is available to Medicare-eligible residents of these counties during the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) starting October 15, 2021 for the 2022 calendar year.

Members of the UM Health + St. Joe’s Advantage plans have access to a broad network of hospitals and providers, including all Michigan Medicine providers, hospitals and outpatient facilities, and IHA and HVPA primary and specialty care providers within Saint Joseph Mercy Health belong system.

For Michigan Medicine, the UM Health + St. Joe’s Advantage is the next step in the strategic partnership with PHP. In 2019, Michigan Medicine became a minority owner of PHP and became the second owner of the health system to join the Lansing-based Sparrow Health System. In 2020, Michigan Care, a PHP commercial health plan, was offered to university and healthcare system staff.
UM Health + St. Joe’s Advantage will be available in Livingston and Washtenaw counties during Medicare AEP starting October 15, 2021. PHP also offers Sparrow Advantage in Clinton, Eaton, Gratiot, Ingham, Ionia, Montcalm, and Shiawassee counties; Alliance advantage in Saginaw, Bay, and Tuscola counties; and PHP Advantage in Calhoun, Jackson, and Kalamazoo counties.

Eligible participants can register for a tariff offered in their area from October 15 to December 7, 2021. Insurance cover for beneficiaries begins on January 1, 2022.
