Lansing’s mayoral candidates are starting to apply for the 2021 mayoral election

LANSING, me. (WILX) – The mayoral election for the city of Lansing is just around the corner. Today, Mayor Andy Schor and candidate Virg Bernero started looking for votes across the city.

Schor says he would like to continue the work he started in Lansing City.

“It’s always exciting to come out and hear from the voters on their doors,” said Schor.

Schor wasn’t the only one knocking on doors. Former Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero was seen walking the streets of Lansing today.

“I think people have been held up for a while and to the point where they are open to a Virg return, Virg 2.0,” said Bernero.

Bernero said his first campaign initiative was to fight the pandemic.

“Ultimately, in order to get back to normal, as many people as possible need to be vaccinated, and then the post-pandemic recovery, economic recovery that has to involve everyone,” Bernero said.

Both candidates say they will stop campaigning from now until the mayoral elections this November.
