Byron Center’s hockey team is returning to the state quarterfinals for the second consecutive year.
The Bulldogs edged Muskegon Mona Shores 4-3 in overtime Wednesday night at the Lakeshore Sports Center in Muskegon. Byron Center will play Hartland 2 pm Saturday in Flint. Hartland beat Fenton 7-0 Wednesday. Byron Center advanced to the state finals a year ago where the Bulldogs lost to Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice 2-1.
Caledonia also played in a Division 1 regional semifinal Wednesday, falling to DeWitt 3-2.
