Grand Rapids entrepreneurs hosting fundraiser to open dance studio

The Midwest Movement Collective plans to bring different dance styles under one roof.

GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan – Two Grand Rapids entrepreneurs are preparing to open a brand new dance studio that combines different movement styles under one roof – but they need the community to do that.

Paige Gabert and Hannah Mico are the co-owners of the Midwest Movement Collective.

The room is now mostly an empty shell, but that should change very soon.

The lifelong performers wanted to start a company that offers beginner and advanced courses in various dance styles such as aerial, pole, contemporary, ballroom and ballet.

Finding the right space was a challenge and now the duo are hosting a fundraiser to get the studio off the ground.

“We hope that this space will become a place where people can come and get active in a fun way without feeling like they already have to have some kind of strength or ability to dance. We want people to just come here and have fun and meet others in their community, ”said Gabert.

The fundraiser will take place on Saturday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at 1140 Monroe Ave NW.

Construction is scheduled to start in December and the studio is due to open in January.
