Grand Rapids suicide prevention event to feature documentary, panel discussion

GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan – This week, mental health organizations in Grand Rapids are hosting a mental illness awareness and suicide prevention event.

The event will screen My Ascension, a documentary about survivor of suicide attempt Emma Benoit, followed by live question and answer and discussion, according to the Mental Health Foundation of West Michigan.

We have been told that with her survival story, Benoit is helping others cope with mental illness.

The event is scheduled to begin on Thursday, December 9th at 5:30 p.m. at 160 68th Street SW, Grand Rapids.
