Where to find Thanksgiving Day dishes in the greater Lansing area

Thanksgiving is a time of gratitude and fellowship. If you are in need of a hot Thanksgiving meal, there are several places in Lansing that offer them free to those in need.

Wednesday November 24th 2021

4:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Registration required: YES, for guests with dinner

The Salvation Army will offer takeaway food to those in need on Wednesday. There will be two dinner shifts and seated meals require advance notice. Take-away meals are available regardless of registration. Masks are required for the event. To claim a seat call 517-484-4424.

5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Registration required: NO

The Volkskirche offers a free, pre-prepared community meal every Wednesday. The collection takes place at the entrance northwest.

Blondie’s Barn serves prepackaged Thanksgiving dinners in their parking lot. Masks are required and donations are accepted.

A traditional Thanksgiving dinner of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cake, etc. is available for take away. Registration, ID and auditing are not required.

Church service at 11 a.m. Celebration from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

St. John’s Lutheran will host a community Thanksgiving celebration with food, activities, and soccer. There will be a communal style dinner with takeaway options upon request.
