Two People Injured In Wexford County Crash

Two people were rushed to hospital Wednesday afternoon after an accident in Wexford County, the Wexford County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies were dispatched to crash the M-55 and S 33 Rd in Cherry Grove Township at around 1:44 p.m.

Their preliminary investigation suggests that a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox driven by a 21-year-old Cadillac woman got in the way of a semi-trailer truck driven by a 22-year-old Lake City man who drove east.

According to the MPs, the woman was trapped in the wreckage of her car as a result of the impact.

They say the Equinox did not give in to the truck heading east.

Both drivers were taken to a local hospital in an ambulance for treatment for their injuries. MPs say the 21-year-old Cadillac woman was later flown to a Traverse City hospital for further treatment.

The extent of the injuries to both drivers is currently unknown and neither vehicle had any additional passengers.

MPs say a brown pit bull mix dog that was in the semi-trailer’s cabin ran away after the crash and is currently missing.

If anyone sees the dog, contact the Wexford County Central Dispatch.
