TheRide holds public meetings on new transportation proposals

ANN ARBOR, me. – On Monday, the Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority (TheRide) will host the first of several virtual meetings to speak to the public about their new service plan.

From August, the plan will affect all TheRide bus routes as well as the A-Ride, GoldRide, FlexRide and Night / Holiday services. The changes included in the proposal include the restoration of some routes, the addition of selected weekend services, the revision of routes to serve different areas and the removal of route variations.

Public feedback meetings will be held this week on Monday and Wednesday at 12:00 noon and Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.

Further meetings will take place on March 30th at 6:00 p.m., March 31st at 12:00 noon and April 1st at 6:00 p.m.

Public contributions are accepted until April 2nd.

TheRide said it will review community contributions and make changes, and then present the final plan to the public in June.

TheRide has put the following safety measures in place for its buses to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19:

  • Customers must wear a face mask

  • The driver may only be spoken to in emergencies

  • The buses are cleaned using the protocols recommended by CDC

  • Social distancing is promoted through signs in transit centers and buses

  • Fewer passengers are allowed on each bus

  • Plastic barriers are added to separate the driver and driver

  • The employees receive sanitary facilities

  • Masks, gloves and face protection are also provided for drivers

  • The collection of finds has been temporarily suspended

  • Transit centers will remain closed with the exception of customer transactions, where applicable
