TCPD Appoints New LGBTQ Liaison

Traverse City Police have appointed a new LGBTQ liaison office to act as a point of contact for both community members and the department’s staff, the department said on Monday.

Officer Krista Fryczynski will act as the LGBTQ liaison officer in a “proactive effort to build and strengthen the relationship between the LGBTQ community and the Traverse City Police Department,” the department said. Chief Jeff O’Brien said Fryczynski will work to build mutual trust so that community members can gain more trust in the police force by providing fair and professional police services and supporting a variety of diversity and equity initiatives. “

Fryczynski was sworn in as a TCPD official in May 2019 after graduating from Northwestern Michigan College’s Law Enforcement Academy program. “She has been a dedicated member of the department and we are happy to share this on her behalf with the community,” wrote the TCPD. The announcement comes during Traverse City’s Pride Week, which has been postponed from October 13-17 this year due to the pandemic.
