New Grand Rapids coffee and bar would cater to drinkers and non-drinkers
“If we address both alcohol drinkers and non-drinkers, it balances the field. So everyone can come in and feel they belong.”
GRAND RAPIDS, Me – A new cafe and bar is coming to the Alger Heights neighborhood of Grand Rapids.
The aim is to offer coffee and cocktails. However, this bar will also cater to non-drinkers with creative and delicious non-alcoholic drinks.
“It was always so frustrating to go to a bar and order a soda with a lime or a cola,” says Jonathan Farman, CEO and owner. free cocktails or drinks that are on offer. “
Sip Coffee & Cocktails will be located on the corner of Alger and Eastern in the Alger Heights business district. Farman has made all the plans and is hoping to start construction on the building next month. The aim is to open sometime by the end of the year.
Grand Rapids may be Beer City USA, but Farman believes spaces for non-drinkers are a growing need.
“I think times have changed, especially in the last decade,” said Farman. “We have more and more people speaking out for not drinking. Whether it’s challenging them or just a decision, they It They don’t like how they feel about it or whatever. “
Farman also owns a neighborhood hair salon, Urban Johnny’s. Have coffee and cocktails next door. Urban Johnny’s will expand part of the space and there will be a window connecting the two stores inside.
“I love the thought of someone getting paint on their head,” said Farman. “And while they do the processing, if they’re confident enough, I would love them to go there and have a drink or coffee while you wait.”
However, he said the two facilities will be separate businesses.
Farman owns a hair salon and says he has his finger on the pulse of the neighborhood. He is also the president of the business association. So he said a coffee shop was a place where residents shouted that they wanted to see the area.
“It’s a good time to do something like this,” said Farman, “and create more business opportunities in this area.”
