New Apartments Coming to Grand Rapids’ West Side
Parts of Grand Rapids went through gentrification, and the west side has been on the up for a couple of years. As it continues to grow, it only makes sense to add some new living space.
WOOD-TV reports that construction of a new apartment building on Leonard Street will start this summer. The former YMCA building [and later The Geek Group building] soon to be Victory on Leonard, a $ 14.6 million housing estate. The building will be converted into studio, 1 and 2-room apartments – a total of 119 units.
… every apartment has a bicycle storage room, “really good” amenities, lots of windows for daylight and a balcony.
These new apartments will be in line with the “tiny living trend” so that each apartment will have an area of 338 square meters. Feet to only 792-sq. Feet. However, smaller apartments mean lower rent compared to other places in the region. Depending on the size of the unit, the rent ranges from $ 930 to $ 1,500 per month.
The ground floor will reserve 1,800 square meters. Foot space for retail stores. In addition, Victory on Leonard plans to have most of the charging stations for electric cars in Grand Rapids. They are also working with The Rapid to provide a covered bus area for those who rely on public transportation. This will be especially helpful during the Michigan winters.
A co-developer of the project informed WOOD-TV that the demolition is expected to begin in mid-April and that construction work will begin sometime in June. The entire development should be completed in summer 2022 and ready for the residents.
The victory over Leonard will take place at 900 Leonard Street NW. Renderings of the new room can be seen here.
