Monsters fall to Grand Rapids in additional time, 2-1 – Morning Journal

Brian Lashoff’s goal 3 minutes, 37 seconds into overtime gave Grand Rapids a 2-1 victory over the Monsters on Feb. 23 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

Cleveland, which outshot the Griffins, 34-24, fell to 15-21-6-3.

The Griffins scored their first goal with 13:08 remaining in the first period. The Monsters’ Tristan Mullin answered 5:47 into the second period with his second goal of the season. Tyler Angle assisted, his 19th of the season. So did Emil Bemstrom, who was sent down by Columbus earlier in the day.

Cleveland goalie Cam Johnson had 22 saves. Grand Rapids netminder Calvin Pickard, who played in Cleveland from 2013-15, made 33 saves.

The Monsters welcome Lehigh Valley to Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse for two games in two days beginning Feb. 25.
