Michigan without Blake Corum, Gemon Green vs. Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pennsylvania – Michigan will do without one of their top ball carriers against Penn State today.

Sophomore Blake Corum didn’t travel to State College, leaving the ninth-placed Wolverines thin in the running back position ahead of a crucial game with the Nittany Lions (Noon, ABC).

Corum (right leg) left Indiana win last week due to injury and never returned. Head coach Jim Harbaugh left the door open for his return this week.

Like last week, expect Michigan (8-1, 5-1 Big Ten) to rely on Hassan Haskins for production in the run game. In a win over the Hoosiers, he’d turned 27 carries into 168 rushing yards. The Wolverines were also off third string without Donovan Edwards last week, but he’s dressed and available to play today.

The absence was hinted at on Friday afternoon when Corum hit the social media platform Twitter at 3:19 p.m. ET to write, “Lord, thank you” from Ann Arbor. Meanwhile, Edwards was spotted in a video posted on the Michigan football team’s Instagram account as he boarded the flight to State College.

Shortly before the game on Saturday, Corum wrote on Twitter: “For those who ask, I’m fine. Can’t wait to see my boys play in 30 minutes. Get blue “

Green also left the game last week with an injury believed to be on his torso and never returned. He had lost his starting spot on the corner to DJ Turner in the past few weeks, so the absence isn’t such a big deal. But Michigan could stay thin in secondary school, a group tasked with defending one of the Big Ten’s top receivers, Jahan Dotson.

In some good news, Michigan appears to have recipients Andrel Anthony and AJ Henning back. Both were in uniform and took part in pre-game warm-ups. Likewise, Tight End Erick All was in uniform and active during the pre-game warm-ups.

But as we saw last week, pre-game activity doesn’t necessarily result in in-game snaps. None of them played last week, which pushed Luke Schoonmaker into a bigger role.

• The Major Uniform Update: Michigan will wear white tops and corn pants today, while Penn State dons its traditional blue tops and white pants.

A modified “White Out” is planned for the Beaver Stadium today, in which the fans have to sit in the sections near the midfield and wear blue.
