The Detroit Lions named Livonia Churchill’s Bill DeFillippo as Week 6 Coach of the Week after the Chargers improved to 6-0.

Churchill defeated Kensington Lakes Activities Association East Division rival Livonia Franklin, 42-14, adding another win to a season that included a 28-21 win over Belleville in Week 3. It was Belleville’s first regular season loss since 2016.

DeFillippo is in his 24th season as a high school coach and ninth as a head coach with Churchill, ranked # 2 in the Associated Press Division 2 poll.

He was an assistant at Ann Arbor Huron for 10 years and an assistant at Churchill for five years before becoming head coach. He is 54-33 with six playoff appearances. Churchill takes to the streets in week 7 to face 5-1 Dearborn Fordson.

During Easter week of the 2021 high school regular season, Lions will honor a high school coach with a donation of $ 1,000 to the school’s soccer program. At the end of the season, the Lions will choose a Coach of the Year and donate $ 3,000 to that coach’s football program.

The Lions program enters its 25th year and has given away $ 467,000 to Michigan high school football programs.
