Ashley Street in downtown Ann Arbor is closing for street scene improvements

ANN ARBOR, me. – On Monday, Ashley Street will be closed until mid-May for street improvements by the Ann Arbor Downtown Development Authority / City of Ann Arbor First and the Ashley Improvements Project.

Closure will begin at the intersection of Ashley and Liberty Streets, but access to local businesses will be maintained, the city said in a statement.

The improvements are expected to be completed on May 15th at 5:00 p.m. The intersection will then reopen to vehicular traffic going west on Liberty and vehicular traffic north on Ashley.

Eastbound Liberty Street is expected to remain closed through Monday May 31st.

Starting Monday at 7:00 am, vehicle traffic will travel north on Ashley Street, east on William Street, north on Fourth Avenue, and west on Huron Street.

Eastbound traffic on Liberty Street is diverted south on First Street, east on William Street, and north on Fourth Avenue. Traffic going west is north on Fourth Avenue, west on Huron Street, and south on First Street.


The closings on East Huron Street between Glen Avenue and Zina Pitcher Place will be extended until Saturday, May 15, as work on the water pipes continues, the city said.
