LANSING, Michigan (WLNS) – Dozens of Jackson volunteers visited the Greater Lansing Food Bank today, packing nearly 3,000 food backpacks and sets for people and children in need.

“We’re looking for communities in our area that are currently underserved, and we know many of them have barriers to getting to pantries or seniors who can’t get food transportation,” said Kelly Miller, director of philanthropy at the Greater Lansing Food Bank.

The board called out a “food packaging lightning” today. Every bag made went to areas in central Michigan.

A finance company named Jackson gave nearly a million dollars to add to the inventory of the tablets.

The new camp offers space for twice as many volunteers. In this way, they can increase their reach and overall impact in the community through the distribution of food.

“A work of love, I say. You know it was hard It was a challenge, but at the same time it was incredibly fulfilling to see that everything we did worked and that we kept so many people from starving or even starving. “

Ryan Warner is a volunteer, he hopes it will help families in need right now.

“I hope it helps the people in the community to truly appreciate the donations. There are so many things I’ve seen in the different buckets so I hope you will appreciate what’s here and it inspires other people to volunteer too. “
