LANSING – A level crossing on Burnham Avenue will be closed for repairs for 17 days, village officials said.

The CSX intersection at Block 18700 of Burnham will be closed from November 8th to 24th. Burnham will be closed from Glenwood-Lansing Road to 186th Street, according to a press release from the village. However, local traffic is allowed on Burnham on the north and south sides of the intersection.

According to the press release, the village began talks with CSX in June 2018 about the need to address the poor condition of these routes and the potential safety risk for motorists.

The village thanked CSX for agreeing to repair the intersection, the statement said.

The Illinois Department of Transportation approved the project and set the schedule, the village said.

Diversion signs will direct drivers to alternative routes.
