Zuniga-Gil joins Michigan Women’s Soccer as a volunteer assistant coach

ANN ARBOR, me. – University of Michigan women’s soccer coach Jennifer Klein announced Friday (August 13) the appointment of Mario Zuniga-Gil into the role of the voluntary assistant trainer. Zuniga-Gil, who recently served as principal at Father Gabriel Richard High School in Ann Arbor and currently serves as principal at Chelsea High School, takes over the role vacated by Bilal Hussein.

“Our employees are very happy that Mario is taking part in our program,” said Klein. “His coaching experience will be very enriching and we look forward to his contribution to our team.”

Zuniga-Gil is originally from Spain and is also the coaching director of the Chelsea Soccer Club. Since the 2015 season, he has held several jobs in Michigan, including director positions at Chill SBC in Lansing and Kingdom SC in Kalamazoo. In 2018 he was also an assistant coach at Madonna University.

He holds a degree in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Granada (Spain) and is a Masters Candidate in Football Coach Education from Ohio University. He also has a UEFA A license.
