‘Experience rich, diverse and unique African culture’ at A Glimpse of Africa Festival in Grand Rapids this Saturday

GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan (WOTV) – This weekend head down to Calder Plaza in downtown Grand Rapids to celebrate a unique aspect of western Michigan-African culture.

The A Glimpse of Africa (AGOA) Festival returns on Saturday August 14th and the organizers invite the community to join this free event for a good cause. AGOA’s mission is to educate and increase appreciation of rich African cultures through delicious cuisine, music, fashion, handmade goods and community engagements that cater to the needs of African refugees and immigrants.

The festival runs from 10:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and features a unique line-up of 25 entertainment acts and nearly 40 vendors.

Event organizers are more than excited to give Michiganders a closer look at the diverse cultures they may not know.

“I would be happy if people come and experience the rich, diverse and unique African culture. We have 54 African countries that we will try to give people an insight into. I would be very happy if people come and enjoy the feeling of traveling to Africa, but you are here in our city of Grand Rapids, ”said Fridah Kanini, the founder of Glimpse of Africa.
