The Family Learning Institute in Ann Arbor launches an annual fundraiser to promote child literacy

ANN ARBOR – The Family Learning Institute is hosting its second annual Bookin ‘It For Kids Fun Run to ensure every child in the larger Ann Arbor community is a great reader.

The event coincides with the biannual children’s book week, which takes place from May 2nd to 9th.

“Our mission is to help economically disadvantaged children who have difficulty reading to achieve literacy at the grade level,” says the event website.

This year’s virtual event encourages attendees to read, run, or walk for 20 minutes each day. You can run or walk in your neighborhood or popular outdoor spots like Gallup Park or Nichols Arboretum.

The Family Learning Institute will also publish a short video of community leaders reading a passage from their favorite book and sharing why reading is important to them.

Registration costs $ 35 per person and everyone who signs up receives a t-shirt and a medal.
