The chase ends in Lansing after police investigate the shots at the injured Chicago policeman, police say Crime and Courts
After a three-hour search, the authorities found that the suspects had left the area.
Lansing Police used the “Code Red” system to warn residents and advise them to stay indoors and call 911 if suspicious activity was discovered in the course of the incident.
On Thursday, Chicago police confirmed the stolen Infiniti and its driver were not involved in the shooting of the Chicago officer, Phillips said.
The Chicago Police are continuing investigations into the driver arrested in Lansing for stolen vehicles and firearms.
“The Lansing Police wish the shot Chicago Police Officer a speedy recovery and would like to thank all of the surrounding authorities who responded at the scene to help with the search,” said Phillips.
“The response was overwhelming, with a Chicago helicopter in the air along with around 150 squads from Chicago, Munster, Thornton, Dixmoor, Oak Forest, CN Railroad, Illinois State Police and Cook County Sheriff’s Police,” the boss continued. “Special thanks go to Calumet City and the Lynwood Police Department, who not only help on site, but also respond to service calls in our city.”
