Stimulus check dispute may have led to Detroit taking pictures, police say – KIRO 7 News Seattle

DETROIT – Two men may have argued over a stimulus check issued as part of the federal government’s COVID-19 aid package before one shot the other Tuesday in Detroit, authorities said.

According to WJBK and WDIV, the incident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. in a house on Rutherford Street in Detroit. Citing preliminary information from the scene, investigators said two men, aged 53 and 31, appeared to be arguing over stimulus control when the younger man pulled out a gun and shot the older man, the news outlets reported.

The victim was hospitalized in “temporarily severe condition” and the 31-year-old is in police custody, WJBK reported.

According to the WJBK, the police did not publish the names of the men or say how they met each other.

The news came just days after an Indiana man shot his child’s mother and killed four of her family members after a domestic argument over a stimulus check, a family member and neighbor said WXIN and WISH.
