Phillip William Lown Jr. of Kingsley died on Monday March 1, 2021 in Apache Junction, Arizona. Phillip was born on April 3, 1944 in Portland, Michigan, to the late Philip R Lown Sr. and Isabell A (fish) Lown.
Phil married Beverly (Smith) Lown on December 31, 1962. Phil and Beverly had been married for 54 years. Phil worked for several years as an orderly for the State Hospital in Traverse City. Phil owned and operated a dairy farm in Kingsley and sold milk to Dean Foods. During this time he also worked at Professional Tool, which he bought after the original owner retired. He and Beverly had run the farm together since 1970. Phil had many friends in the farming community in which he lived. After retiring, Phil and Beverly spent the winter months traveling in their fifth wheel and staying in Apache Junction, where they made several lifelong friends. Phil continued to travel to Arizona after Beverly’s death in 2017.
Phil was a hardworking man who lived his dream and loved both his family and his farm. Some of his greatest loves in life were his cows and John Deere tractors. He was a loving father who passed his strong values ​​on to his children and grandchildren. He loved a good joke and lived life to the fullest. Phil was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren. Phil loved hanging out with his brother-in-law, Earl, and doing odd jobs on the farm. Everyone who knew Phil knew of his affinity for dungarees, which is why he was nicknamed “Bibby”.
Unlike Phil’s parents and grandparents, he was preceded by his wife Beverly Lown in death; Sister Victoria Cooper; Brother-in-law Jim Chamberlain and Frank Evans. He is survived by his girlfriend Judy Lehman; Sons Max (Melissa) Lown of Kingsley and Rex Lown of Kingsley; Daughter Alexis (Jeremy) Caron from Chandler, Arizona; Grandchildren, James (Emily) Lown, Taylor Lown, Abby Lown, Gus Caron, Grace Caron, and Lucas Caron; Great-grandchildren, Sarah Wiland, Hunter Wiland, Josh Wiland, and Henry Lown; Siblings, Cynthia (Richard) Beckwith, Janet Chamberlain, Pat Evans, Jack Lown, and Jerry (Susan) Lown; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Phil will be missed very much by everyone who knew and loved him. A celebration of life is planned for a later date.
