Parts of Bemis Road near Ann Arbor are slated to close for six weeks

PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP – Bemis Road between Platt Road and Carpenter Road on the border between the townships of Pittsfield and York will be closed for repairs on Tuesday April 27th.

According to the Washtenaw County Road Commission, the road will be closed to through traffic for approximately six weeks for a resurfacing project. All working dates are preliminary and are subject to change due to weather conditions.

A signposted detour leads motorists from Carpenter Road to E. Willis Road and then to Platt Road back to Bemis Road.

People who live or work in the work zone will have access to their properties throughout the construction.

Later this summer, the Roads Commission will install a traffic light at the intersection of Bemis Rd and Carpenter Rd. The intersection will remain open during this project, but there may be traffic delays due to road and shoulder closings, authorities said.

The Road Commission will publish a notice that will be sent out before the start of the intersection project.
