Obituary for Thomas Canfora (1933-2021) – Lansing, MI

Canfora, Thomas LANSING, Mich. Thomas Canfora, 87, of Lansing, Mich., Passed away on April 6, 2021 after a brief illness that was not related to COVID-19. He was born on July 23, 1933 in Albany. Tom served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1954 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He was a 58-year-old member and retiree of Ironworkers Local # 12 and was proud to have worked on many of the tallest parts of the Albany skyline and bridges. Tom is survived by his 46-year-old wife, Mary Jane; his son Luke and daughter-in-law Chong-Anna; Daughter Susan; and son Thomas; and his adored grandchildren Jackson and Miles. He was a lifelong motorcycle and motorsport enthusiast who also enjoyed boating and spent much of his retirement in Florida enjoying the Gulf of Mexico. He was a staunch trade unionist. Tom was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed very much. A festive service will be held on Monday, April 19, at 11 a.m. at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
