Michigan’s historic 2022 election in photos ⋆

Every campaign comes with the promise that it will be the most important one in history.

While the history books have yet to be written on Michigan’s 2022 election, we do know that it was, indeed historic, with Democrats sweeping all top statewide offices with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and Attorney General Dana Nessel earning reelection; winning a majority in the congressional delegation; maintaining their edge on the state Supreme Court; and flipping both houses of the Legislature for the first time in almost 40 years.

The staff has covered the campaign every step of the way, not just with news stories but also in thousands of photos. We’ve compiled some of our most notable pictures from the trail, led by photographer Andrew Roth, with contributions from Laina G. Stebbins, Allison R. Donahue, Ken Coleman and Kyle Davidson.
