Kids On The Go: A New Summer Camp for Kids With Special Needs in Traverse City

A special summer camp is coming to Traverse City. Kids On The Go Camp is a Michigan-based pediatric nonprofit program that provides physical, occupational, and speech therapy services to children with special needs.

Kids On The Go has influenced the lives of over 3,000 children in southeast Michigan since 1999. The Traverse City location will be the newest location for the organization and they are thrilled to be giving back to the community. The summer camp is led by professional therapists and supported by volunteers who focus on communication, mobility, fine motor skills and social skills through a variety of weekly themed therapeutic activities. They offer morning lessons for children aged 3 to 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and afternoon lessons for children aged 6 to 8 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

I had the opportunity to speak to one of the physical therapists, Natalie Ramsey, who expressed her enthusiasm for this project. “It’s therapy in disguise. Instead of the children thinking that they are going to a clinic for therapy, they feel like they are in a camp. And they are there with their friends and have fun. “

Camp takes place at the Immaculate Conception Elementary School at 314 Vine St, Traverse City, MI 49684.
