The City of Ann Arbor’s “Energy Saving” design competition is open to students

ANN ARBOR, me. – Ann Arbor student artists have the chance to win $ 200 by submitting a badge or sticker design in a new citywide competition.

On Tuesday, July 13th, until 5 pm, young artists can take part in the sticker design competition “Save Energy”, which promotes the reduction of the CO2 footprint and energy saving.

The competition is being held by the City of Ann Arbor’s Sustainability and Innovation Bureau to celebrate the first anniversary of A2ZERO, Tree Town’s transition plan to be carbon neutral by 2030.

  • Schoolchildren from kindergarten through 12th grade are eligible to participate.

  • Designs must be original creations that have not yet been published and should include the theme of “saving energy”.

  • Entry forms must be submitted with designs that must be signed by a parent or guardian (if applicable).

  • Since stickers are only printed on one side, the designs should be single-sided and fit in a circle with a diameter of 5 cm.

  • Young artists can use up to three colors with no white space.

  • Dates cannot be included.

  • Only one entry can be submitted per student.

Drafts should be submitted with participation forms by email to [email protected]. or by mail (or hand-delivered) to the Ann Arbor Office of Sustainability and Innovations in Larcom City Hall.

When dispatched, the designs must be postmarked by Tuesday, July 13th.

Finalists’ designs will be voted on by the public and used for the Ann Arbor District Library’s Summer Game Badges 2022.

The prices will be announced on Friday, August 13th, city officials said.

The winning designs will be selected for three categories: Grade K-5, Grade 6-8, Grade 9-12. Category winners will receive $ 200 in cash and their work will be printed as stickers and featured at A2ZERO community events.

A2ZERO was passed by Ann Arbor City Council on June 1, 2020. Its one year anniversary was celebrated from June 1st to 6th during the A2ZERO week.
