Literati Bookstore organizes a virtual introduction of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s book

ANN ARBOR, MI – Literati Bookstore is hosting a virtual book launch of In the Heights: Finding Home on June 15 with co-authors Lin-Manuel Miranda, Quiara Alegría Hudes and Jeremy McCarter.

The book deals with the creation of the recently published “In the Heights”, a film adaptation of the musical of the same name by Miranda. It offers untold stories, essays and a behind-the-scenes look behind the scenes and the film set.

Miranda is best known for writing and starring in Hamilton, a musical about founding father Alexander Hamilton. Hudes is a Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and essayist best known for her play “Water by the Spoonful.” McCarter is best known for the book Young Radicals and is co-author with Miranda of Hamilton: The Revolution, a behind-the-scenes look at Hamilton.

The Literati event is part of a larger book launch hosted by Random House Books. The event includes a chat with Miranda, Hudes and McCarter, moderated by director and producer America Ferrera.

John Ganiard, Literati’s events director, said virtual events like this one, which arose out of pandemic restrictions, have opened doors for independent bookstores.

“Literati is going to be part of an event we might not have been able to attend,” said Ganiard. “… We appreciate that we can still connect with our community in this way.”

Tickets are available online from $ 40 and include the purchase of In the Heights: Finding Home. The virtual event starts at 8 p.m.
