Injection molding expo to debut in Detroit in 2022

The Crain Global Polymer Group and AMI are launching an Injection Molding Exhibition, March 16-17, 2022 in Detroit.

The Injection Molding and Design Expo is held at the TCF Center, the downtown convention center formerly known as the Cobo Center, and is sponsored by Injection World magazines by Crain’s Plastics News and Applied Market Information Ltd. supported.

“We believe America’s large and diverse injection molding market will really benefit from a focused trade show that is an inexpensive, time-efficient way to share information and build new business,” said Brennan Lafferty, vice president and group publisher of the Crain Global Polymers Group. “The injection molding and design exhibition will meet an important need in this market, similar to what the Fakuma exhibition in Europe does so well.”

The exhibition and its three conference theaters are free of charge.

The show is a natural extension of AMI’s compounding, extrusion and recycling exhibits, which are held annually in Cleveland, said Andy Beevers, director of events and magazines at AMI.

“The initial response to the new event has been extremely positive. By working with Crain and Plastics News, we can deliver an exhibition that exceeds the expectations of exhibitors and visitors alike,” said Beevers.

Visitors to the injection molding and design exhibition will have access to three theaters with programs curated by the conference, editorial and business intelligence teams at AMI and Crain. One focuses on shaping the future, one on shaping the future, and the third on a series of hands-on training seminars.

Rita Andrews, AMI’s Exhibition Director, explained the reasons for choosing the Detroit venue: “Because of the very high concentration of injection moulders in Michigan and its neighboring states and the importance of Detroit as a center, this is the ideal location for the injection molding and design exhibition for automotive design and manufacturing and the proximity of the mold cluster across the river in Windsor, Ontario. “

Exhibitors include suppliers of injection molding machines, ancillary equipment, automation systems, molds, hot runners, machine and mold components, resins and compounds, additives, masterbatch and liquid colors, design and analysis software, and a range of industrial services.

The exhibitors who have already booked stands include Wittmann Battenfeld, KraussMaffei, Tederic, Fast Heat, Mastip, Beaumont Technologies, Polykemi and Zeiger Industries.

Crain Communications Inc., headquartered in Detroit, is one of the world’s largest private business media publishers. Global Polymer Group publishes Plastics News with 45,457 print subscribers. In addition, Crain publishes automotive news and local business titles in Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago, and New York.

AMI, based in Bristol, England, is a leading provider of market intelligence and events to the plastics industry. It publishes Injection World and organizes a group of exhibitions dedicated to compounding, recycling, and extruding plastics in Cleveland. At their last event in 2019, these attracted 261 exhibitors and 4,375 visitors from 42 countries.
