In the same exchange of fire that killed the 17-year-old in Lansing, the family was almost beaten

LANSING, Michigan (WILX) – On Monday, the boyfriend shared with a Lansing mother the moments he said his girlfriend almost became the victim of a shootout. That shootout killed a 17-year-old boy just after 2:30 p.m. on the 3900 block of Hunters Ridge.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was shot in a parking lot. One suspect had not yet been identified at the time of writing.

News 10 spoke to Brian Eirosius, a resident of the area, who says his girlfriend was in the middle of the shooting while she was sitting in her own living room.

“You don’t know whether it’s a firework or a weapon,” said Eirosius.

Eirosius told the story when his girlfriend realized that the cracking noises were gunshots.

“She’s a little upset. She is also a mother for the first time, ”said Eirosius. “When she imagines that she could have lost her child, or that she could have lost her child… She’s trying to fight this through. It’s tough.”

When bullets flew in the neighborhood, Brian Eirosius’ girlfriend and baby were in the living room. Then a bullet flew through a window.

“What she noticed was the drywall going through the living room and my daughter sitting on the couch and diving after,” said Eirosius. “When she heard the gunshots, she knew what it meant to go to the bathroom.”

Moments earlier, his friend was working at her desk, just inches from where the bullet entered the house.

“Your desk will be right there,” he said, pointing to where she was sitting. “It came right through the window, stole your desk, and went up to the ceiling.”

Unfortunately, Eirosius is no stranger to this situation.

He said, “I’m staying near MLK near Jolly and there is shooting across the street or in my complex all the time. A bullet also went through my window about two months ago. Exactly where I have dinner every evening. “

With another life of a teenager, he claims he is constantly worried about the youth. He said their access to guns had become too easy.

“They get them as easily as adults. They don’t care about the innocent, ”he said. “Elderly people live out here, other children, my two-year-old.”

This latest shooting comes after we learned of an increase in gun violence in the United States. Experts say 2021 will be the worst year for gun violence.

The Gun Violence Archive says that from the beginning of the year through September 15, more than 14,000 people died from gun violence. That’s an increase of about 9% over the same period in 2020. In the US, too, there was a 15% increase in mass shootings from last year.
