Here’s How Detroit Ranks Among The Most Violent Big Cities In The US – CBS Detroit
(CBS DETROIT) – Detroit’s mission to reduce crime does not seem to be paying off as previously thought.
Newly released statistics from the FBI rank the city as the second most powerful of the major cities in the country.

In 2020, Detroit police reported just over 14,000 violent crimes out of a population of just 639,000.
That’s about 2,200 crimes per 100,000 population.
It’s also 10% higher than it was in 2019.

Only Memphis beats that number and comes in at number one on the list.
A “violent crime” can include assault, robbery, rape, or murder.
Lansing also ranks 9th with around 1,700 violent crimes last year.
