Bicycle maintenance classes

TRAVERSE CITY – The Cherry Capital Cycling Club is offering a bicycle maintenance course in the Recycle-A-Bicycle-Workshop on September 23rd at 6:30 p.m. Learn how to adjust the drivetrain, check the brakes, and fix a flat tire. The cost is $ 20. Registration: [email protected]

Dance exercises

INTERLOCHEN – The Zumba sessions start on September 23rd and 30th at 6.30 p.m. in the Interlochen City Library. This dance fitness program is led by Karen McLain of Footloose Fitness TC. Donations are welcome.

Mental Health Walk

TRAVERSE CITY – NAMI Walks Your Way is September 25th. Participants can start their 3 miles at 10 a.m. at Kirkbride Hall or at their own location. Fundraising is sponsored by namiwalks.org. Share the personal or virtual experience with #MentalHealthForAll and # MINAMIWalks2021.

Autumn festival

BOYNE CITY – Thanksgiving takes place on September 25th from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This family-friendly day includes music, crafts, kids’ activities, food, and fall produce downtown. Portions of Water and Lake Streets will be closed to traffic as the expanded Boyne City Farmers Market moves downtown.

Local churches and nonprofits are needed to organize activities for children or to harvest handicrafts.

Halloween dress rehearsal

BELLAIRE – The Halloween dress rehearsal begins on September 25th at 10 a.m. in Richardi Park. Children can wear costumes, receive candy, and run 1 mile. Register with Inspire Health Chiropractic.

5K fundraiser

TRAVERSE CITY – Byte Productions is hosting the Blue Ribbon 5K Run and Walk on September 25th at 10am at the Right Brain Brewery. Participants can take part virtually. Admission is $ 30 per person; $ 20 for students. The proceeds will support the local chapter of Us Too, a prostate cancer awareness and support group. Turkey Trott returns

TRAVERSE CITY – The Up North Media Traverse City Turkey trot will continue on November 25th at St. Francis High School. Admission is $ 25 for the 5K run and $ 30 for the 5-mile route through September 30. The proceeds support TART Trails. Log in to tcturkeytrot.com.

Change in management at Norte

TRAVERSE CITY – Norte’s board of directors recently announced that they have separated from Executive Director and Founder Ty Schmidt. The Schmidt family launched the youth-oriented bicycle organization in 2014.

The Board of Directors has appointed Director of Operations Jill Sill as Interim General Manager.

Burn mortgage

SUTTONS BAY – United Methodist Church parishioners in Keswick recently celebrated the Church’s mortgage repayment. In December 2003, the Church took out a mortgage to expand facilities, including three Sunday School classrooms, restrooms, conference rooms, prayer rooms, common rooms, and a multipurpose room. The Church achieved its goal of paying off the mortgage by September 1 and burned a copy of it during a recent service. The service begins on Sundays at 9.30 a.m.

Action dog park

CHARLEVOIX – The city of Charlevoix recently launched a campaign to raise funds for a dog park on Carpenter Street’s ball fields.

The goal is to collect $ 17,500 by September 28 at Patronicity.com/chxdogpark.
