East Lansing participates in ESPN College Gameday and other pregame shows

The Michigan State Spartans defeated the Michigan Wolverines in a highly competitive battle in East Lansing on Saturday. The fierce rivalry game drew fans from both teams and huge network coverage from the ESPN College Gameday and Fox Big Noon Kickoff.

Many fans woke up early to see the college gameday show and see their sign on TV, including the University of Michigan Kinesiology and Business Juniors Baylor Wiggins and Nick Began.

Even though Wiggins is from Oregon, he could feel the hatred in this rivalry from the moment he walked on campus.

“I’m actually from Oregon, so I didn’t grow up with this rivalry like many people, but all I can say is that I got it pretty quickly, even though I’m not from the state that has a pretty big hatred” said Wiggins. Despite this hatred, he didn’t expect Michigan to dominate. “I’ll show respect where it’s appropriate. I think it’s going to be a close game all the time.”

At the head of the college gameday line, however, was MSU alumni Colton Wood, who had been camping since midnight.

“It feels like Christmas morning, you know, I haven’t been looking forward to a game in a long time, you know, just two undefeated teams, especially in the rivalry that means a lot. It will definitely be interesting, the atmosphere will be incredible, ”said Holz. “As for game day and so on, I think Fox and ESPN have never gotten to two things, so the world is looking at us right now, so hopefully Michigan State will come out and prevail.”

Cameron Sjoberg, a junior in Political Science and Prelaw at MSU, was also on the front line to get into the pit lane of college gameday fans, commenting on the game.

“It’s a huge deal for us. I don’t know Michigan fans, they might be more interested in Ohio State, but it’s a big deal for us, ”said Sjoberg. Both Top 10, College Gameday is also a golden opportunity. I think that’s amazing. I wouldn’t have stayed up all night and got here at 2:30 (am) if it hadn’t. “

Fans were confident that their team would emerge victorious on Saturday, like Began who thought this would be a blast.

“I hit Michigan today when I was at least 17, we’re going to corner Kenneth Walker and Blake Corum is going to run wild and JJ McCarthy is going to have some serious playing time today. Michigan wins tons, ”he predicted.

Sidney Randolph, a sophomore at U of M, wasn’t as confident.

“To be honest, I’m a little worried about the game. Michigan State is pretty good right now. We’re both undefeated, but I also feel like we’re both not as good as our records say, but Michigan State is a pretty good team, they’re 7-0, which is really good right now, and it should be a really good game … I don’t know if we’ll win, ”he said.

Despite all the talk, Michigan State gave Michigan its first loss of the season and remains undefeated as they move into week ten of college football season.
