Driver Who Hit TCAPS Student Will Not Be Prosecuted

A driver who hit a Traverse City student on his way to the bus stop last month will not be prosecuted.

According to Captain Randy Fewless of the Grand Traverse Sheriff’s Office, the driver has not received a subpoena and the case is now closed.

The accident occurred three weeks ago on Peninsula Drive near McKinley Road in Old Mission Peninsula.

At around 7:00 am on September 16, a 17-year-old student from public schools in the Traverse metropolitan area tried to get on the bus on Peninsula Drive. He was crossing the street when a pickup hit him.

Captain Fewless could not tell the student’s current condition, but the student survived the accident after being hospitalized in Traverse City for his injuries.
