Ann Arbor Art Center announces new gallery space in downtown

ANN ARBOR, me. – Get a taste of the brand new space at the Ann Arbor Art Center on Friday, November 12th.

Art fans can visit the organization’s street-side gallery right next to their main room on Liberty Street during an opening reception from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for their new Historic Futures exhibit.

The multidisciplinary exhibition is a preview of the arts center’s 2022 season and ushers in a redesign of two buildings, the center said in an announcement.

The new exhibition offers an artistic examination of history and comments on the present and the future.

“The artwork in Historic Futures acts as a guide that questions the past and imagines what is to come as life advances into the future,” reads the exhibition’s website.

Compiled by the Detroit-based art curator Juana Williams, the participating artists for “Historic Futures” are Lisa Alberts, Stephen Arboite, Yuling Chuang, Sarika Goulatia, Camille Hoffman, Ayana V. Jackson, Jason Quigno, Josie Love Roebuck and Darryl DeAngelo Terrell.

Historic Futures runs Friday, November 12th through Thursday, December 30th. Find out more here.

The new gallery is located at 115 W. Liberty St. next to the arts center.
