3 ‘Wolverine Watchmen’ ordered to stand trial for alleged plot to kidnap Whitmer, others | Cops and Courts

Three men allegedly members of the Wolverine Watchmen – one from Oakland County and two from Jackson County – are on trial for an alleged conspiracy to kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer and others.

The cases against Paul Bellar of Milford and Joseph Morrison and Pete Musico of Munith were brought before the 12th District Judge Michael Klaeren in the Jackson County Circuit Court at the end of the preliminary examination on Monday.

The three are alleged to have participated in a plot to storm the state capitol building and kidnap elected officials, including Whitmer.

“My office is pleased that this case is progressing and that there is an opportunity to hold these men accountable for their actions,” said Attorney General Dana Nessel in a press release published on Monday.

Bellar, 21, of Milford, is charged with:

• Providing material assistance for an act of terrorism, a 20 year crime, and / or a US $ 20,000 fine

• Gang membership, a 20 year crime that can be served as a consecutive sentence and

• Carrying or possessing a firearm while committing a crime; Criminal weapon – a 2-year prison term that is served sequentially

Morrison, 26, of Munith, is charged with:

• Gang membership, a 20 year crime that can be served as a consecutive sentence

• Providing material support for acts of terrorism

• Carrying or possessing a firearm while committing a crime; Criminal weapon – a 2-year prison term that is served sequentially.

Musico, 42, from Munith, is charged with:

• Gang membership, a 20 year crime that can be served as a consecutive sentence

• Providing material support for an act of terrorism, a 20 year crime, and / or a US $ 20,000 fine

• Carrying or possessing a firearm while committing a crime; Criminal weapon – a 2-year prison term that is served sequentially

Bellar, Morrison and Musico are three of several men arrested for domestic terrorism after a joint state-federal operation in early October uncovered an alleged police conspiracy that threatened to start a civil war and an attack on the police force State planned to build Capitol and kidnap government officials

While Klaeren ruled that Bellar, Morrison and Musico will not be charged with terrorism threats, Nessel plans to “consider all options for a re-examination of the charges in the future,” the press release said.

Others in Antrim County on the alleged property are due to conduct a preliminary investigation in Traverse City April 14-16.
