The Concordia University Ann Arbor School of Education’s top picks

ANN ARBOR – Teacher, after a school year you have managed to be flexible, to try new things and to think outside the box. Downtime is important to both your brain and your body, and you should try your best to prioritize downtime this summer.

However, when you need mental stimulation and entertainment, nothing gets the job done better than a book. Am I right, teacher? Building literacy over the summer is important and can even be fun. Reading for fun is great!

We tell our students that, but sometimes we need to hear it too. Reading for entertainment as an adult is healthy.

Why is this book on your summer reading list?

Why is this book on your summer reading list?

Noise: I really enjoy reading about research on decision-making processes. As a sinner, I know that I will often make mistakes and bad decisions.

However, when, through God’s grace, I can be more aware of my temptations and weaknesses, I hope to make better decisions in the future.

Vatican Shadows: It’s about a Lutheran pastor who plays a James Bond role and is asked to help the Vatican. What could go wrong?

Sandra Harris

Book selection: The Red Book by James Patterson and David Ellis and The President’s Daughter by James Patterson and former President Bill Clinton.

In this book, Michael and his daughter Megan describe the “double gain” of seeing work and life in partnership, not in opposition. I love the practical insights, personal stories, and inspiring ideas that fill the pages of this book!
