Silver Spruce’s Bicicleta | Food

Bottoms up
By Lynda Wheatley | May 1, 2021

May 1st kicks off with National Bike Month and Silver Spruce Brewing really honors it. Traverse City Brewery, just a few turns from the TART trail and easily accessible via the Eighth Street bike path, has just tapped its bicicleta beer.

This IPA session is only available this month and is ideal for thirsty cyclists. It’s a low, pedal-friendly ABV (4.6%) that smells like spring, with dominant aromas of pine and freshly cut melon and tastes just as refreshing, with just a hint of palate-perfect bitterness, thanks to the dry beers. Hop origin (where dry hops are added after the wort has been boiled, resulting in a less bitter, more aromatic IPA).

Best of all, for every pint sold, Silver Spruce donates $ 1 to Norte to help support its mission to get more children on bikes. Do you have a child without a bike? Egads. Make May the month to borrow one from one of Norte’s three bike libraries – in Traverse City, Elk Rapids, or Kalkaska. They lend bikes to kids ages 3 to 10 and it’s free and easy to borrow. All you have to do is show your driver’s license and all your child has to do is “promise to be great, take good care of the bike, ride it as often as possible, a positive norte -Be an ambassador and return it sometime [he or she has] has outgrown him. ”
