Sacred Heart gets Traverse City Christian in D4 quarters Tuesday – The Morning Sun

Don’t worry about the periphery, worry about yourself and take care of yourself.

This is exactly what the Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart Academy volleyball team is planning on Tuesday evening in the quarterfinals of Division 4 against Traverse City Christian.

The Irish focus on playing their game and when they do they like their chances.

The quarterfinals are slated to begin Tuesday at 6 p.m. from Chippewa Hills High School. The winner will advance to the D4 semi-finals from the Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek on Thursday.

The ninth-placed Irish (34-5-4) have so far rolled their way through districts and regionals, losing only two sets while winning 12. On Thursday they defeated Wyoming Tri-Unity Christian in four sets from Brethren.

Conversely, the fifth-placed Sabers (43-8-5) only lost one post-season set, while winning 12 en route to the first quarter-finals since 2008.

To resolve the fuss the Irish must stop or try to stop hitter Emma Mirabelli.

She is the focus of Traverse City’s Christian offensive and is a great talent.

On paper, the Irish have the height at the net to block on the defensive side and hit on the offensive side.

A balanced attack was Sacred Heart’s Modus Operandi all season, so expect more from the same Tuesday night.
