Prep report: Grand Rapids dominates section swim meet

Emily Ericson (50 Free) and Rowan Kreuger-Barth (100 Fly) each won an individual race, finished second behind their teammate in the other and qualified in two relays.

Grand Rapids took the four qualifying places in diving, with Addie Albrecht breaking the course record with 530.6 points, more than 40 points more than the previous mark from 2014.

Behind the 510.5 of the Thunderhawks, Mesabi East was second with 330.5 points and Hibbing (289) third. Both teams qualified for four entries for the state meeting on Friday and Saturday at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.

In Section 7AA, Duluth East was sixth with 176 points.

GIRL HOCKEY

Warroad 1, Proctor-Hermantown 0

Lila Lanctot scored the only goal of the game at 4:58 of the third period when the Warriors won in the first game of the season from Proctor-Hermantown and a rematch of a Class A semi-final in 2021 at home.

Abby Pajari stopped 43 of 44 shots for Proctor-Hermantown, while Kendra Nordick got a shutout with 14 shots for Warroad.

Rock Ridge 4, Princeton 1

Jennie Krause, Natalie Bergman and Kylie Barazelli each scored one goal and one assist when Rock Ridge won under the Wolverines banner for the first time on Saturday at the Eveleth Hippodrome.

The Wolverines lost 6-1 to Two Rivers / St. Paul on Friday when Barazelli scored Rock Ridge’s historic first goal.

New Prague 3, Grand Rapids 0

The Trojans swept the Thunderhawks 25-15, 25-23, 25-21 in the game for third place in the AAA state tournament of the class on Saturday in St. Paul.

Anna Molstad had 18 kills and Emerson Dillon 28 excavations for the second seeded New Prague.

For the fifth seeded Grand Rapids (21-10), Kamryn Klinefelter had 12 kills. Braya LaPlant had 24 assists and was called to the All-Tournament Team.
