Pit Spitters finalize pre-season roster with eight additions | Sports

TRAVERSE CITY – The Traverse City Pit Spitters announced their list for the 2021 season on Friday, adding eight more players to the team.

The latest additions bring the preseason roster to 37 players. The Spitters will host 22 pitchers and 15 batters for the 72-game season.

Friday’s announcement included two players enrolled in Michigan colleges at Hillsdale College. The second infielder Aidan Brewer and the Davenport left-hander Spencer Vainavicz.

Right-handed Morgan Lunceford is the latest addition to the Spitters. He’s coming straight from Edmon Santa Fe High School before going to the University of San Diego next year.

Kyle Iwinski, a second right-handed from Kankakee Community College, went 8-6 with the Cavaliers that season, averaging 10.3 hits per nine innings.

The left-hander Aren Gustafson joins TC after his junior season with Olivet Nazarene, where he finished 6-4 with 4.25 ERA.

The CSU Stanislaus product Anthony Ramirez will see the time as a pitcher of relief. Ramirez had an ERA of 1.50 for his sophomore year.

Camden Traficante, a shortstop, saw the time in Stetson that spring, hitting .285 with four doubles and four stolen bases.

The last addition announced on Friday was 6-foot-5 Corbin Morrison from Chattanooga state. Big freshman Lefty hasn’t played a college game, but the Spitters are excited to see what potential he has.

The Spitters start the regular season with a home game on May 31.
