Pedestrian, 42, dies after being hit by car in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – A 42-year-old Grand Rapids man was pronounced dead at the scene after being hit by a vehicle Sunday morning.

The victim was walking near the intersection of South Division Avenue and Wealthy Street SW at around 7:45 a.m. on Sunday, March 7, when he was hit by a vehicle, according to a Grand Rapids Police Department press release.

Police and medical staff tried on-site life-saving measures, but were unsuccessful, the press release said.

The driver of the vehicle stayed on site and has fully cooperated with investigators, the police said.

The victim’s name will be withheld until the family is notified.
