On and off showers Friday
DETROIT – We are keeping a close eye on Storm Tracker 4 as more and more isolated showers are moving in our direction today. After a sample of showers late Thursday, there are some rain and thunderstorms on the radar this morning that could slow travel for some around Metro Detroit. And again there is occasional fog in the usual places, which sometimes leads to a tricky drive on Friday morning. Today it won’t be an all-day rain event, but the occasional rain event with a few lightning bolts should keep us busy all day. Pack your umbrella or rain parka before heading out with temperatures between the low and mid 60s when you’re out on that Friday at Last.
SUNRISE: 7:38 AM
We will see a few rain and thunderstorm waves during the noon hour and later in the afternoon with some breaks in between as the highs hang in the lower 70s and a warmer wind of SSE 4-9mph. We have no risk of storms today, just a slow moving storm that will throw rain and isolated thunderstorms back and forth. And high school soccer games on Friday night could be affected, although new model data suggests fewer showers after 5 or 6 p.m. Rain is fine, but lightning is a deal breaker so we’ll keep you updated on what’s happening on Local 4 News on air and online throughout the day.
SUNSET: 7:02 pm
The weekend forecast hasn’t gotten any easier as we’ve got closer to it. Computer model data now shows rain showers before 2pm on Saturday before the sky tries to clear. Saturday afternoon will be a gradual transition from some midday showers to mostly sunny skies at the end of the afternoon and highs in the mid to late 1970s as the Saturday sun breaks through.
Sunday appears to be mostly dry, with a chance for a few showers in the morning, especially in the West and North Zones. It looks like we’re seeing a mix of clouds and sun with highs of 75-80F and a warming breeze S 5-15 mph all Sunday. Columbus Day Monday looks good for most of Michigan as we see sun and clouds and flirt with 80F for another day. The showers move through late, late Monday and / or Tuesday mornings. Here, too, models show a cold front on Thursday with showers and thunderstorms and then cooler air for the next weekend.
