Motorcyclist dies in crash in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, me. – The Grand Rapids Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle accident from Sunday evening.

According to a press release on Monday, it happened around 5:50 p.m. on the 4100 block of Eastern Avenue SE.

When they arrived, the officers found that the accident occurred between a vehicle and a motorcycle.

Despite life-saving measures, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured and police say he was fully involved in the investigation.

The initial investigation revealed that the motorcycle was traveling north on Eastern Avenue SE when it encountered a vehicle turning left from a private drive.

According to the GRPD, motorcycle speed appears to have been a factor in the crash.

The motorcyclist, a 56-year-old Grand Rapids resident, will not be identified until next of kin are notified.
